With so many stories in the news about people in need in our community, many Christ the King parishioners are feeling particularly called to give right now. Consider donating to one of these outreaches:
Little Sisters of the Poor Food Collection: Please bring donations of toiletries and non-perishable food to Mass on the weekends of November 1-2 or 8-9.
St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry: Donations of non-perishable food, toiletries, and paper products are accepted year round in the designated collection areas in the entrances of Saint Joseph, Saint Scholastica, and Saint Edward Churches or at the lower level of Saint Mary Church on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 10:30am. Items for holiday celebrations (stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, baking supplies, etc.) will be especially appreciated over the next few months. Monetary donations can be made in the monthly SVdP envelope or online at ChristtheKingpgh.org/parish-ministry.
Nancy Heil’s Thanksgiving Meals: Please bring your donations of canned or boxed side dishes (stuffing, gravy, potatoes, cranberries, green beans, etc.) and heavy-duty foil baking pans to the Saint Scholastica social hall by November 24. Please bring frozen turkeys the morning of Monday, November 24, ONLY. If you have earned but don’t need your Giant Eagle free turkey, consider donating it! Nancy also provides Christmas gifts for local families. New, unwrapped items for adults and children can be brought to the Saint Scholastic social hall.
ARM’s Shoebox Collection: Please fill a shoebox with personal care items (such as disposable razors, soap, shampoo, lotion). Include a signed Christmas card inside the wrapped box (no bows or ribbons please) and mark it “L” for ladies or “M” for men. Boxes can be dropped off no later than December 15 at the John Paul I Center, 201 9th Street, Sharpsburg.
Christmas Cookies for Local Food Pantries: Please bring your homemade baked goods to the social hall at Saint Scholastica Church, either after Mass on Saturday evening, December 13, or before 10:30 am. on Sunday, December 14.
