Thoughts on the Passion accounts in Matthew and John

The Passion accounts from the Gospels according to Matthew and John are read on Palm Sunday and Good Friday this year. These two accounts contain passages that have contributed to historical persecution of Jews by Christians. How did this happen, and how are we to understand those passages today?

A Second Collection will be taken March 18-19, directed to outreach efforts for the Catholic Church in the United States. This collection supports low-income communities who greatly depend on these funds to continue their local programs and pastoral activities.
